I work in finance.

At the end of the day,

I’m kind of a big deal.

People know me, they trust me, they respect me.

They depend on what I do every day.

But what they don’t know,

is what else I do every day.

I have an addiction.

They say, “Don’t start,
or you’ll never stop.”

I started and I can’t stop.

If my clients knew how I spent my free time,

far removed from skyscrapers, city lights, mahogany desks,

they would shutter,

but I can’t help it.

Those cozy little towns, the sweaters, the accessible dialogue, predictable plot lines, the monarchies of made up countries, frankly, it’s the only time I feel really free.
